About us

WT Media Ltd is an independent and locally owned media company.

History

WildTomato launched in July 2006 - founder Murray Farquhar's vision was to create an Essential Lifestyle Magazine. The first edition was 16 pages and immediately found a loyal following by fulfilling an unmet need for an inspirational local journal.

In December 2007 Jack Martin became editor of the magazine, bringing a new focus to the editorial pages, and in March 2008 he bought WT Media Ltd.
WildTomato has grown to cover the Top of The South island and acquired a reputation along the way for exciting journalism that is passionate about Nelson and Marlborough. In March 2010 WT Media launched FishHead, Wellington's magazine.

The Team

Jack Martin – Editor and Publisher

Jack came to Nelson from the UK in 2006 to marry his beautiful Kiwi wife. Since then he has kept himself occupied with his two baby boys, a puppy and a couple of magazines.

He loves editing WildTomato, in particular getting down in the trenches at the sharp end of the month as the magazine approaches print deadline. He is frequently heard telling people, “editing a magazine is the most fun you can have with your clothes on.”

Time permitting he enjoys tennis, back-country skiing and reads obsessively.

Sean Barker – Advertising Manager

Sean Barker is the Advertising Manager. With an excellent background in advertising sales, Sean is dedicated to serving businesses across Nelson and Marlborough.

Having moved from the UK with his wife Faith two years ago, Sean is passionate about the area and enjoys strolling around the Nelson Saturday Market, cheering on the Makos and enjoying fine dining at one of the many fantastic restaurants across the region. He can often be seen rummaging through the trees of the Waahi Taakaro Golf Course searching for his golf ball and hopes to one day find the place they call the fairway.

He’s looking forward to speaking to local businesses and providing them with solutions to their marketing needs.

Kevin Degutis - Designer

WildTomato designer, Kevin Degutis, believes firmly in the ethos of WildTomato: he lives life in the region to the fullest exploring all the back streets. As a result of hard work and play, he is able to achieve a sense of balance and harmony - Zen personified.

Kevin's enthusiasm for portraying the lifestyles of the Top of The South is reflected in the look of WildTomato. A creature of habit, he can be found in a handful of places; typically, at work, on a lead climb up one of the limestone walls at Paynes Ford or running/tramping through any number of regional bush trails. One has to wonder where he fits in sleep.
